Suppliers

Our aim at The Rose and Crown is to provide fantastic quality, fresh and seasonal food in a relaxed environment. To do this, we spend time liaising with suppliers to find the finest ingredients, which, where possible are traceable right back to the source. The menu also centres on the seasons to ensure that all ingredients are at their best.

Meat; The majority our meat is supplied by John Pettit, a famous family butcher, whose shop is based in Grimsby! John has a fantastic reputation nationwide and we have had a great working relationship with him for over 6 years. Our beef comes from Aberdeen Angus cattle and our chicken is free range, with all the meat couriered down to us daily from the North. We also use the family run Tolly's and Sons in Northwood as a meat supplier providing meat of a very high standard. On Tuesday nights we offer steak from the Dalton Brothers based at Copthall Farm on Breakspear Road in Ickenham. The meat is from locally reared, free range cattle and is hung and matured for 21 days to produce tasty, tender cuts of steak. Dalton's also produce our delicious burgers.

Bread; The majority of our bread is baked locally by the seven seeded bakery in watford

Fruit and Vegetables; Our fruit and vegetables are sourced daily at New Covent Garden Market by Roberts of Rickmansworth.

During the summer months we use herbs from our own herb garden.

Craig the Cockerel and his chicks

Eggs: When our hens are laying we sell these in our bar to customers. If we had enough hens we'd use the eggs in the kitchen but unfortunately we don't have the productivity from them.

Duncan, Lorraine and the girls of Mitchells

Dairy;   Our milk, cream eggs (when our chickens can’t keep up with demand) and moolicious ice-cream is from the Mitchell’s of Hill End road Harefield just two fields away from the bottom of the garden

You can meet all the Suppliers on Market Day when they come to Rickmansworth to enable the public to sample their wares and take some home.  Check the pub notice boards for dates.
